A group of talented students from the University of Luzon (UL) have embarked on a transformative journey as part of the Hybrid Asia Exploration 2024 (HAX 2024) program. Mary Rose R. Guntang, Jayven Mae T. Hadloc, Rocelle Ann F. Hornada, and Chris Angel R. Rongilla, all BS Information Technology students from the College of Computer Studies, departed from Clark International Airport on September 11, 2024, and have successfully arrived in Surabaya, Indonesia.

HAX 2024 is a unique program designed to foster collaboration, cultural exchange, and technological innovation among Asian universities. Recognizing the pivotal role of technology in addressing societal challenges and driving progress, the program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to create a better world.

The Asian region, with its vast diversity of cultures, languages, histories, and levels of development, offers a rich tapestry of experiences. By immersing themselves in different countries and cultures, HAX 2024 participants gain a deeper understanding of the world and develop essential communication and intercultural skills.

UL’s participation in HAX 2024 is a testament to the institution’s commitment to providing students with global opportunities. As the only private university from the Philippines represented in the program, UL is proud to contribute to the development of Asian talent and foster stronger regional ties.

The HAX 2024 program involves five participating countries: Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan. Through a combination of lectures, group activities, and hands-on experiences, participants will develop technical knowledge, application methods, and teamwork skills.

The UL students will spend time in Surabaya, Indonesia, until September 20th, exploring the city’s vibrant culture, interacting with local communities, and engaging in academic and cultural activities. Their experiences in Indonesia will undoubtedly broaden their horizons and enrich their personal and professional development.

The HAX 2024 program aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By promoting education, innovation, and cultural exchange, the program contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

As the UL students continue their journey through HAX 2024, we wish them all the best and look forward to hearing about their experiences and accomplishments. Their participation in this prestigious program is a source of pride for UL and the Luzonian community.
