College of Liberal Arts

As an institution, our reward only comes from the fact that our students’ unlimited capabilities begin to unfold as they face the fight of life.” – Dr. Carmelita S. Quinto

The College of Liberal Arts comprises seven (7) fields of study, namely: AB Communication, AB English, Political Science, AB Psychology, AB Social Work, BS Journalism and BS Public Administration.

Ever since the University of Luzon opened its classrooms in 1948, the College of Liberal Arts has been at the heart of the school’s mission. Its enduring commitment is to provide top-class education through its well-rounded teachers, modern facilities and best working environments – the tools needed in preparing young minds for the world.

And because we live in a highly pluralistic society, the college makes sure that the students’ interests which may be: writing, history, politics and government, social work or public service, are mindfully supported and heartily developed.

Likewise, the importance of respecting students from all backgrounds as individuals with unique qualities, needs and goals remain to be the guidepost of the general management as they broaden their horizons by introducing smarter programs that will make the college and its learners competitive in facing the 21st century challenges.

The heart of the department, which consists of exceptionally-gifted faculty, focuses on teaching students to think critically and independently so they can also succeed in a world beyond campus. With this, students also “learn how to learn” which make them adaptive to the fast-changing circumstances and unexpected challenges they will inevitably face after graduation.

As the college constantly develops a well-balanced liberal education, the Liberal Arts program pursues the institutional mission and objectives which will actualize the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual/moral potentialities of students.

It likewise enhances their mastery of content and skills in research, meaningful discussion, reflection, interpretation and creative expression; develop their basic skills in written and spoken language which will facilitate effective communication and prepare them to be responsible leaders in their individual careers and the communities they serve.

Thus, the real challenge is basically for graduates to think beyond their own personal success and to consider how they can enrich the lives of others. For that’s what it means to be part of the UL family, and it’s the same spirit of love and success, as it was six decades ago.

That’s why the College of Liberal Arts is uniquely capable of sustaining its legacy by preserving the highest accreditation – LEVEL IV – to be granted by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), a private accrediting agency which gives formal recognition to schools that maintain excellent standards in its educational operations.
