Posted on 15th of Oct 2026 by UL AdministratorThe University of Luzon provided Criminology students with practical learning opportunities through an Educational Tour held on September 28, 2026.
The tour included visits to the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s K-9 Training Center, S.W.A.T. unit, and Bureau of Fire Protection, giving students a closer look at the duties and responsibilities involved in law enforcement and public safety.
At the K-9 Training Center, students observed trained dogs demonstrate their ability to detect different types of contraband. They also participated in selected training activities and learned about the teamwork between handlers and their canine partners.
During the visit to the S.W.A.T. unit, students attended a seminar on specialized equipment, its uses, and the safety precautions required for proper handling and operation. The visit also provided a better understanding of the discipline and responsibility necessary for specialized law enforcement operations.
At the Bureau of Fire Protection, students learned about firefighting equipment, its proper use, and its role in emergency response. The discussion highlighted the preparation and reliable equipment needed to protect lives during emergencies.
Through these visits, the University of Luzon connected classroom learning with practical knowledge of law enforcement, emergency preparedness, and public service. The experience also helped students understand the importance of teamwork, discipline, and continuous training in their future careers.
These learning experiences contribute to sustainable development by connecting academic knowledge with practical skills and responsible public service. The activities support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through career-related learning and public safety awareness. SDG 4: Quality Education is advanced through practical learning and skills development. SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities is supported by strengthening awareness of emergency preparedness and community safety. SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions is reinforced by developing students’ understanding of responsible law enforcement, public safety, and the rule of law.
