University of Luzon Alumni Spotlight | Harold Paulo T. Mejia, BSN Class of 2008: Advancing Public Health Through Leadership and Service

The University of Luzon proudly recognizes Harold Paulo Tiangson Mejia, a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Class of 2008, whose career exemplifies dedication to public health, community service, and healthcare leadership.

From his early days as a nursing student at the University of Luzon, Harold demonstrated a passion for serving others. Guided by the values and education he received from the University, he pursued a career committed to improving health outcomes for communities across the country. He later strengthened his expertise by completing graduate studies in Master of Arts in Nursing major in Nursing Administration, further preparing him for leadership roles in the healthcare sector.

Today, Harold serves as a Development Management Officer IV at the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Ilocos Region, where he plays a vital role in the implementation of health programs and initiatives that support the realization of Universal Health Care in the Philippines. Throughout his professional journey, he has held various positions within the Department of Health, steadily advancing through years of dedicated public service and leadership.

His commitment to professional excellence is reflected in his extensive participation in leadership development programs, public health nursing courses, health systems management trainings, and Universal Health Care implementation initiatives. These experiences have equipped him with the knowledge and skills needed to address emerging public health challenges and contribute to the strengthening of local health systems.

Beyond his official duties, Harold actively shares his expertise as a speaker and lecturer on Universal Health Care initiatives for various local government units, helping build the capacity of healthcare workers and public health leaders across communities. He also served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of the Philippines College of Nursing, demonstrating his commitment to mentoring future healthcare professionals.

His involvement in professional organizations, including the Philippine Association of Public Health Nurses, Inc. and the National Association of Public Health Nurses Incorporated, further reflects his dedication to advancing the nursing profession and promoting quality healthcare services.

As a licensed nurse and public health leader, Harold continues to embody the University of Luzon’s mission of producing competent, compassionate, and socially responsible professionals. His achievements stand as an inspiration to current students and fellow alumni, proving that a commitment to service, lifelong learning, and leadership can create meaningful and lasting impacts on society.
