University of Luzon Highlights Ms. Osia’s First Week in Canada Through the Canada-ASEAN SEED Program
Posted on 1st of Oct 2026 by UL AdministratorA new environment brings new opportunities for learning, growth, and meaningful connections for University of Luzon’s Ms. Crisantafe Osia, who began her international learning experience in Moncton, Canada, through the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) Program.
On September 4, Ms. Osia arrived in Moncton, where she started familiarizing herself with her new school environment and community. She was accompanied by Dr. Shawn Ethier of New Brunswick Community College (NBCC), who guided her on a tour around the city and the campus. The visit allowed her to explore the institution where she would spend the coming months pursuing academic and cultural learning.
Her first day also gave her the opportunity to meet fellow students through an event organized by the Student Union, opening opportunities for new friendships and connections. She later met her host family and settled into her homestay, marking the beginning of her life in Canada.
On September 8, Ms. Osia officially began her academic activities through an orientation at NBCC. She was introduced to the academic environment, learning activities, and campus life that would form part of her international experience. She also met fellow exchange students from St. Paul University Quezon City, together with their dean, and Dr. Ethier.
Through international exchange opportunities, the University of Luzon continues to support students in gaining knowledge beyond the local setting, developing practical skills, and preparing for the global labor market.
International learning experiences support sustainable development by expanding access to education, strengthening employability, and fostering global cooperation. The University of Luzon’s participation in these efforts advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by providing access to international learning and professional training; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by strengthening human capital and employability; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by promoting equal opportunities through international education; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration among institutions and communities across countries.
With new experiences, friendships, and learning opportunities ahead, the University of Luzon wishes Ms. Osia a meaningful and rewarding journey in Canada!
