University of Luzon 1st-Year Accountancy Students Strengthen Financial Literacy Through FLAMES Seminar

Financial literacy and practical knowledge were highlighted during the FLAMES (Financial Literacy Through Accounting, Management & Economics for Sustainability) Seminar participated in by 1st-year Accountancy students of the University of Luzon.
The seminar featured discussions on “The Role of BSP in the Philippine Economy” and “Know Your Money,” giving participants a better understanding of the role of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in the country’s economy.
Held on July 24, 2026, the activity provided students with learning experiences beyond the classroom. It also addressed their educational needs by introducing practical financial knowledge that can support informed decisions and responsible citizenship.
The University of Luzon, through the College of Accountancy, continues to provide opportunities that connect academic learning with practical applications. The discussions helped students develop financial knowledge while strengthening their preparation for professional education and future responsibilities in the field of accountancy.
Practical learning experiences help students build knowledge that can be applied beyond the classroom. Through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the seminar supports SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening education quality through relevant learning and professional competence; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by developing financial literacy that can help students prepare for future employment and responsible participation in the economy; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is supported by the partnership between the University of Luzon and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, which provides opportunities for knowledge-sharing and learning between academic and financial institutions.
Seminars like this help the University of Luzon provide 1st-year Accountancy students with an opportunity to expand their financial knowledge, connect classroom learning with practical applications, and gain insights that support their preparation for the accountancy profession.
