University of Luzon Strengthens International Relations Capacity at KAPIT-BISIG 2026

Internationalization continues to shape higher education by creating opportunities for institutions to learn from one another and build stronger academic networks. Representing the University of Luzon at KAPIT-BISIG 2026: United from Within to Beyond were Prof. Angel Samson Reyna, Jr., Director of the International Relations Office, and Ms. Annabelle Cua, IRO Coordinator.

Organized by the University of the Philippines Los Baños, the two-day capacity-building and professional training workshop was held on July 13–14, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center Clark, Pampanga.

The program brought together higher education leaders, International Relations Officers, IZN Focal Persons, and academic professionals from across the Philippines. Through workshops, discussions, and practical learning sessions, participants explored best practices and strategies for strengthening internationalization and international relations in higher education.

For the University of Luzon, the workshop provided valuable learning that can support its international engagement and future academic activities. The discussions also offered insights into building strategic partnerships, expanding institutional networks, and creating opportunities that can benefit students, faculty, and the wider University community.

The experience further strengthened the University’s professional capacity in international relations and encouraged continued participation in initiatives that promote collaboration across institutions.

Professional development in international relations can help higher education institutions build stronger networks and create meaningful opportunities for collaboration. The activities align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals particularly, SDG 4: Quality Education through professional training and learning opportunities that strengthen knowledge and skills; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by capacity-building that encourages effective institutional collaboration and shared practices; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through academic networks and partnerships that create opportunities for knowledge exchange and international cooperation.
