Extending learning beyond the classroom, students and faculty from the University of Luzon College of Accountancy took part in a special seminar organized by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Dagupan Branch.

The activity was held on July 7, 2026, in celebration of the branch’s 33rd anniversary. It gave participants an opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the Philippine financial system and its role in the country’s economy.

The seminar featured discussions on the Role of BSP in the Philippine Economy and Know Your Money. The first session introduced the BSP’s role in supporting monetary stability and economic growth, while the second focused on the security features of Philippine currency and ways to identify genuine bills.

Through this professional education experience, Luzonian participants strengthened their financial literacy and financial knowledge. The discussions also helped connect classroom learning with practical concerns in the financial sector, giving students useful skills for their future careers as accountants.

The activity also reflects the University of Luzon’s role in providing learning opportunities that develop human capital and prepare students for participation in the labor market. Exposure to financial education further supports career development by giving students knowledge that can be applied beyond their academic studies.

Learning opportunities that connect academic education with real-world financial knowledge contribute to broader efforts toward sustainable development. These efforts support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. SDG 4: Quality Education is advanced through professional education and practical learning that strengthen students’ skills. SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth is supported by financial literacy that prepares students for future participation in the economic sector. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is strengthened through collaboration between University of Luzon and BSP Dagupan, creating opportunities for shared learning and professional development.

The University of Luzon extends its gratitude to BSP Dagupan for the invitation and for providing its students and faculty with an opportunity to learn from the country’s central banking institution.
