University of Luzon Celebrates Student’s International Music Competition Success
Posted on 14th of Sep 2026 by UL AdministratorOutstanding musical talent brought University of Luzon student Ruevelyn G. Dulay to the international stage of youth music, where she earned top honors at the Young Artist Friendship Festival (YAFF) Global 2026 Music Festival & Competition.
A first-year Bachelor of Elementary Education student, Ruevelyn represented the Philippines at the competition held in Da Nang, Vietnam, from June 26–28, 2026. She competed in the Elite Stage (Solo, Ages 16–18) category and won a Gold Medal for her rendition of “A Change Is Gonna Come” by Aretha Franklin.
Her success continued in the Open Stage (Mixed Group) category as a member of The Power Divas. The group received a Gold Medal and the Overall Champion title for their Air Supply Medley. Formed in 2022, the group has spent four years developing their performance through friendship, trust, and a shared passion for music.
Ruevelyn began singing at age 10 and continues to develop her talent under coaches Renz Ruther Robosa and Arah May Robosa of Renz Robosa Music Production. Both mentors are proud graduates of the University of Luzon College of Education.
Recognizing her talent and potential, UL President Dr. Luis M. Samson Jr. awarded Ruevelyn a 100% scholarship. She will also join the UL Harmonics, giving her another opportunity to develop her musical skills while representing the University.
Creative development and access to opportunities in the arts also connect with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. SDG 4: Quality Education is advanced by providing students with opportunities for holistic learning and talent development. SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities is supported through scholarship opportunities that help deserving students pursue education and their goals. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is strengthened through international cultural exchange that builds connections among young artists from different countries.
University of Luzon congratulates Ruevelyn for her outstanding performance and looks forward to her continued growth as a student and young artist. Her journey shows how talent, discipline, and determination can open opportunities beyond borders.
Congratulations, Ruevelyn! Your UL family is proud of you.
