University of Luzon Delegates Take Part in 2026 PNA Pangasinan Convention, Researcher Receives Best Research Poster Award

Research scholarship and professional learning marked the participation of University of Luzon delegates at the 2026 Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) Pangasinan Chapter Convention.
Held on June 13, 2026, the convention brought together nursing professionals and researchers for an exchange of knowledge and research findings. The event took place at the Dr. Francisco Q. Duque Conference Hall of the Region I Medical Center in Dagupan City.
University of Luzon College of Nursing faculty member Mark Leo I. Zabala, RN, MAN, received the Best Research Poster Award in the Professional Category for the study “Lived Experiences and Emotional Resilience of Oncology Nurses.” The research examines the experiences of oncology nurses and highlights their resilience in providing care to patients facing cancer.
The University of Luzon delegates also presented “Effect of Acupressure on Blood Pressure Among Adults with Primary Hypertension: A Nursing-Focused Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.” We commend the researchers behind the study—Jordan H. Llego, PhD, ELM, D.Hon., Ex., PhD(N), RN, LPT; Mark Leo I. Zabala, RN, MAN; and Kyla Mae Palazo, RN, who served as the presenter. Their work contributes to evidence-based nursing practice and supports the development of practical approaches to patient care.
Research activities that address health concerns while strengthening professional learning contribute to sustainable development. The work advances SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by generating nursing knowledge that can support better healthcare practices and patient care. It also supports SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting professional education, critical inquiry, and continuous learning among nursing professionals.
These accomplishments reflect the value of research in strengthening nursing practice and preparing future professionals with relevant knowledge and skills. Through the work of its delegates, faculty, and researchers, the University of Luzon continues to contribute to nursing knowledge and human health.
