The University of Luzon proudly recognizes the achievements of Dr. Vladimir C. Parayno, an outstanding alumnus whose dedication to education, leadership, and public service continues to make a meaningful impact in the academic community.

Dr. Parayno’s journey of excellence began at the University of Luzon, where he earned his Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEEd) in 2004 and graduated With Distinction. Inspired by the University’s guiding philosophy of “Pericias y Valias” (Skills and Values), he pursued continuous professional growth while serving as an educator.

After spending a year teaching at a Private Institution, he joined the public school system in 2005 as a teacher at Victoria Q. Zarate Elementary School. Determined to further enhance his expertise, he completed his Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) major in Educational Management in 2008 and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) major in Development Education in 2011, both with Meritus honors. His commitment to leadership was also evident when he was elected President of the school’s Faculty Club.

In 2015, Dr. Parayno was promoted to Senior Education Program Specialist at the Department of Education – Division Office of Dagupan City, a role in which he continues to serve with distinction. His responsibilities include monitoring public schools in the implementation of partnership programs and the annual Brigada Eskwela, helping strengthen collaboration among schools, stakeholders, and communities.

Reflecting on his academic journey, Dr. Parayno credits the University of Luzon for molding him into the professional educator and leader he is today. The skills, values, and work ethic he acquired as a Luzonian continue to guide him in serving the education sector and contributing to the development of future generations.

The University of Luzon proudly recognizes Narciso T. Laguerta, CPA, MBA, a distinguished alumnus of Luzon Colleges, Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Accountancy, Batch 1983, and a former full state scholar of the National Government.

Today, Mr. Laguerta serves as Officer-in-Charge Regional Director of Revenue Region 1 – Ilocos Region of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). His decades-long career in government service reflects a journey marked by continuous professional growth, leadership, and commitment to public service.

His impressive academic journey includes a Master in Business Administration from the Philippine School of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws from the University of the East, complemented by his professional eligibility as a Certified Public Accountant.

His accomplishments in the BIR further demonstrate his dedication to excellence. In his current assignment, Revenue Region 19 ranked 2nd bureau-wide among 22 Regional Offices in the attainment of its collection goal for the Annual Income Tax Return Filing Season in April 2025, and 3rd bureau-wide in the attainment of its First Semester 2025 collection goal. The region also ranked 6th bureau-wide for its January–September 2025 cumulative collection performance and attained its ISO 9001:2015 certification in September 2025.

His previous leadership assignments likewise included significant contributions in audit, human resource management, quality management, and regional development.

From a state scholar and Accountancy student at Luzon University to a senior government leader, Narciso T. Laguerta’s journey reminds us that education, lifelong learning, and dedicated service can open doors to meaningful leadership and lasting impact.

Jhomel Aron Sansano opened a new chapter in his basketball career with a standout debut in the NBL Pilipinas Governor’s Cup, earning Player of the Game honors for the Pangasinan Asinderos.

The game was held on August 9, 2026, at the Robert B. Estrella, Sr. Memorial Stadium in Rosales, Pangasinan. The Pangasinan Asinderos defeated the Nueva Ecija Granary Buffalos, 129–110, with Sansano making an immediate impact in his first NBL appearance.

The former University of Luzon Golden Tiger carried his experience from years of collegiate competition into the professional stage. His versatility on the court, from scoring and rebounding to defending and creating plays, helped him make a strong first impression in the league.

Sansano played for the University of Luzon during 2019–2020 and 2023–2026, developing from a student-athlete into a leader on and off the court. During his time with UL, he collected several notable accomplishments, including the 2026 NCRAA Season MVP and Mythical Five recognition, 2025 PCBL and UCAAP Finals MVP awards, and the 2023 Z’League championship and Three-Point King award.

His NBL debut adds a new chapter to a basketball journey built through years of training, competition, and dedication. The University of Luzon celebrates Sansano’s transition to the big league and looks forward to his continued career development.

Sports participation supports holistic development and lifelong learning beyond the classroom. The activity contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through. SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being is supported by promoting physical activity, discipline, and mental resilience. Morante, DNP, FADLN, PMHNP-BC, LNC, FNP-BC, NP-C, PMHNP-C, GERO-BC, MEDSURG-BC, PMH-BC, APRN a globally recognized nurse practitioner, educator, entrepreneur, researcher, and advocate for mental health.

A proud Luzonian, Dr. Morante graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Luzon in 2011. Since then, he has built an extraordinary career that has positioned him among the leading voices in advanced nursing practice and mental health care in the United States and beyond.

Driven by a passion for lifelong learning and service, Dr. Morante pursued advanced studies culminating in a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and multiple board certifications in family practice, psychiatric-mental health, gerontology, and medical-surgical nursing. His impressive academic journey includes professional development programs at Harvard Medical School, where he completed the Global Healthcare Leaders Program and Training to Teach Medicine in 2025.

Today, Dr. Morante serves as Senior Clinical Director and Lead Provider of PsychUp Mental Health, a thriving mental health organization in California that he founded to expand access to quality psychiatric care. He is also a respected faculty member at Azusa Pacific University, where he mentors and trains future generations of nurse practitioners. Throughout his career, he has held academic and leadership positions in several prestigious universities and healthcare institutions across the United States.

Beyond clinical practice and education, Dr. Morante is a dedicated researcher whose work focuses on mental health, genomics, healthcare equity, and innovative approaches to psychiatric care. His numerous publications and research projects reflect his commitment to improving health outcomes for diverse populations, particularly within Filipino and Asian communities.

A passionate advocate for professional advancement, Dr. Morante founded PASS (Purpose, Advocacy, Sustainability, Service), a national nurse practitioner board review and mentorship initiative that has helped countless healthcare professionals achieve their career goals. He is also the host of the Mindful Moments with Pedro Morante podcast, where he promotes mental health awareness, leadership, and professional growth.

His excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Outstanding Global Alumni Award for Academic and Professional Leadership from the University of Luzon in 2024, the The Outstanding Filipino Awards (TOFA) in Global Healthcare, and the Outstanding Mentor Award from DNPs of Color in 2025.

Despite his international success, Dr. Morante remains deeply committed to giving back. He actively mentors aspiring nurses, provides free board review programs and mental health services, participates in community outreach initiatives, and supports efforts to advance nurse practitioner practice in the Philippines. From University of Luzon Graduate to President of ORIX METRO Leasing and Finance Corporation

The University of Luzon proudly recognizes the remarkable achievements of Angelo Z. Padua, CPA, a distinguished alumnus whose inspiring journey exemplifies leadership, excellence, and dedication in the field of finance and corporate management.

A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program in 1993, Mr. Padua immediately demonstrated his commitment to professional excellence by passing the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination in the same year. His strong academic foundation at the University of Luzon became the cornerstone of a highly successful career in the financial services industry.

Mr. Padua’s professional journey began as a Branch Accountant and steadily progressed through various leadership roles within ORIX METRO Leasing and Finance Corporation. Through hard work, strategic vision, and an unwavering commitment to organizational growth, he climbed the corporate ranks, ultimately being appointed Director and President of ORIX METRO Leasing and Finance Corporation in July 2024.

Throughout his career, Mr. Padua has played a pivotal role in transforming and strengthening the organization. As Operations Group Head, he spearheaded major initiatives that improved operational efficiency, enhanced portfolio quality, and modernized core business systems. Among his notable accomplishments was the development of the ORIX METRO Reinvention Model, a client-centered organizational strategy designed to restore market leadership and relevance in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.

He also led the creation and implementation of the company’s Accounts Receivable Management Program, which successfully exceeded its target for reducing non-performing loans. Under his leadership, the organization embraced digital transformation through the rollout of advanced core banking systems and strategic restructuring initiatives that strengthened operational performance.

Before assuming executive leadership, Mr. Padua was instrumental in expanding ORIX METRO’s presence across the country. As head of the Countryside Branches Group, he led branch expansion efforts that increased the company’s network to 100 branches nationwide. His contributions significantly supported the company’s achievement of the historic “One Team, One Billion” goal, helping generate over one billion pesos in net income and establishing a benchmark for sustained financial success.

Beyond the corporate world, Mr. Padua has also contributed to the development of future professionals. From 1996 to 2001, he served as a part-time Accounting Professor and CPA Reviewer at the University of Luzon, sharing his expertise and mentoring aspiring accountants.

Today, in addition to serving as President of ORIX METRO Leasing and Finance Corporation, Mr. Padua also holds leadership positions within several companies under the ORIX Group Philippines, further reflecting the trust and confidence placed in his capabilities as a business leader.

Anthony’s journey of excellence began in Pangasinan, where he consistently demonstrated academic brilliance from his elementary and secondary years. A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program of the University of Luzon, he earned the distinction of Cum Laude, showcasing the academic rigor and discipline that would define his professional career.

His exceptional talent in accounting reached national recognition when he achieved a remarkable milestone in the October 1999 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure Examination, placing 9th nationwide with a general average score of 91.43. This achievement not only brought pride to his family but also highlighted the quality of education and training provided by the University of Luzon.

Following his success in the CPA board examination, Anthony began a distinguished professional career with Sycip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.), one of the country’s premier auditing firms. His experience in external audit provided a strong foundation in financial reporting, governance, and business processes, preparing him for greater leadership roles in the corporate world.

Over the years, he steadily rose through the ranks in various organizations, serving in key finance, accounting, audit, and administrative positions. His expertise eventually led him to Globe Telecom, Inc., where he built an impressive career spanning more than a decade. Through dedication, strategic leadership, and outstanding performance, he advanced from Internal Audit Specialist to Manager, Senior Manager, Director, and ultimately Senior Director of Finance and Business Advisory.

Today, Anthony is recognized as a seasoned finance executive with more than 26 years of professional experience in financial and business advisory, controllership, accounting, treasury, internal audit, and external audit. His leadership has contributed significantly to organizational growth, financial stewardship, and operational excellence.

Beyond his corporate accomplishments, Anthony remains committed to service and community engagement. He has actively participated in civic and church organizations, serving in leadership positions and contributing his expertise to community development initiatives. The induction took place on July 20, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria, where Chukwuazonim formally entered the country’s pharmaceutical profession. The occasion recognized the completion of his professional journey and his readiness to serve in the field of pharmacy.

A graduate of the University of Luzon, Chukwuazonim carried with him the knowledge and skills developed during his years of study. His background at UL provided a strong foundation in professional education and practical training, which he now brings into his work as a pharmacist.

His journey also reflects the value of perseverance in reaching professional goals. From his years in the university to his induction in Nigeria, Chukwuazonim continued to build the knowledge, discipline, and skills needed for his chosen field. PMAJ Llamas began his academic journey at the University of Luzon College of Criminology, where he worked as a working student from 1994 to 1997 while pursuing his studies. Through perseverance, dedication, and hard work, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminology degree from the University of Luzon in 1997, laying the foundation for a successful career in public service. He later furthered his education by completing a Master of Science in Criminology.

Today, PMAJ Llamas serves as the Assistant Unit Chief of Investigation of the Philippine National Police Regional Maritime Unit 1, where he contributes significantly to investigative operations, intelligence gathering, evidence handling, and leadership initiatives. His distinguished career also includes serving as Unit Chief of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 1 and the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit of Pangasinan, as well as leadership roles in various municipal police stations across the province.

A passionate advocate of criminal investigation, PMAJ Llamas believes that investigation is both an art and a science that demands knowledge, resourcefulness, and sound judgment. Beyond his law enforcement duties, he shares his expertise as a criminology instructor, helping shape future generations of criminal justice professionals.

His extensive training in criminal investigation, intelligence operations, crime scene processing, fingerprint examination, laws and jurisprudence, and public safety leadership has enabled him to excel in both operational and academic settings.

The University of Luzon proudly recognizes Rowena Solar Ferrer, RN, MAN, a distinguished alumna whose remarkable career in nursing reflects decades of dedication, leadership, and service to the healthcare profession.

A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program of Luzon Colleges (now the University of Luzon) in 1988, Ms. Ferrer has devoted more than three decades to advancing patient care and nursing excellence at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City.

After successfully passing the Nursing Licensure Examination in 1988, she began her professional journey as a Staff Nurse at R1MC in 1990. Through her commitment, competence, and unwavering work ethic, she steadily rose through the ranks—from Staff Nurse to Senior Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, Nurse IV, and presently serves as Nurse V, a position she has held since 2023.

Demonstrating a passion for lifelong learning, Ms. Ferrer further strengthened her professional expertise by earning a Master of Arts in Nursing from Lyceum Northwestern University. Throughout her career, she has actively participated in numerous local and national seminars, conferences, and professional development programs focused on leadership, patient safety, clinical nursing practice, healthcare innovation, and nursing administration.

Her leadership and commitment to the nursing profession have earned her notable recognitions, including the Leadership Excellence Award from the Philippine Nurses Association and a Loyalty Award from Region 1 Medical Center.

Beyond her clinical and administrative responsibilities, Ms. Ferrer has generously shared her knowledge and expertise as a resource speaker and facilitator in various nursing training programs, helping mentor and develop future generations of healthcare professionals.

She is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the Philippine Nurses Association, the National League of Government Nurses, the Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines, and the periOperative Registered Nurses Association of the Philippines (ORNAP).

A proud Luzonian, Dr. de Vera earned her Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English from the University of Luzon in 1994 and most recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Language Education at the University of Luzon in August 2025. Her academic journey reflects an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning and professional excellence.

With over three decades of dedicated service in education, Dr. de Vera currently serves as Associate Professor V at Pangasinan State University–Lingayen Campus, where she mentors future educators, leads research initiatives, and champions gender-responsive and community-based programs. Her distinguished career has spanned roles as an English mentor, journalism mentor, communication arts educator, and academic leader, shaping countless students and aspiring professionals across the region.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. de Vera actively contributes to national and regional development through her memberships in the National Gender and Development Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women, the Region 1 Gender and Development Resource Pool, and the National Research Council of the Philippines. Through these organizations, she continues to advance equity, inclusion, and excellence in education.

Dr. de Vera’s remarkable achievements exemplify the values that the University of Luzon seeks to instill in its graduates—academic excellence, integrity, leadership, and service to society.
